May 31st to June 2nd – King’s Birthday Weekend.

We look forward to seeing your art on show! We know it competes with the New Zealand Arts Show, but we are hoping for a cluster effect!

What's New
Welcome to Mana Arts Society!
We're a group of friendly and supportive local artists in Plimmerton.

We hold an annual MAS exhibition and one Cash and Carry exhibition in our clubroom every year and welcome members of the public to enjoy the art on display. If you're looking for artwork for your home, or to give as a gift, you'll find a wide range of art styles and something to suit every budget. See our upcoming exhibitions.

We hold 8 to 10 art workshops per year that are open to the public. They cover a range of topics and mediums - some of our recent workshops have covered watercolours, oil painting, cold wax painting, pastels, mixed media and bookbinding. See our upcoming workshops.

Visiting our clubroom
We ask that all members and visitors sign into the visitor's book, this helps us understand how the rooms are used. Get directions to our clubroom on the Contact Us page.

Our clubroom is available for hire to members and non-members. Policy documents can be downloaded below:

  • a comprehensive library of art-related books and media.
The society's history
Whenever Tui McLauchlan moved to a new place she looked for a local art group and if there wasn’t one, she started one. That is how Mana Arts Society was formed!

Initially called the Mana Arts and Crafts Society, the group was formed in 1982 by a handful of local artists who were passionate about drawing, painting and the arts. They initially worked out of a church hall in Acheron Road before building the current clubrooms in Plimmerton Domain in 2001.

The Society was formed with the following ideals in mind:
  • to encourage and promote artists to pursue their talents
  • to provide a positive and friendly environment such as the clubroom and peer support for our members
  • to encourage sociability amongst members
  • to further the above objectives by cooperating with kindred clubs and societies throughout New Zealand.
