Adele Matthews Wilkin
I have recently moved to Camborne from the Waikato retiring from Secondary teaching. Shortly after I arrived, I joined the Mana Arts and have enjoyed being a committee member since, meeting many
new people.
Painter, potter, weaver and craftswoman, I have always had a strong involvement in the arts. I had a formal art training which began at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, in Australia majoring in Pottery, Painting, Printed textiles and Sculpture. I then completed secondary teachers training in Christchurch New Zealand. I taught Art throughout the Waikato NZ. I took up weaving and fashion design, which later became a full time business. In 1996 I returned to teaching Visual Arts, later to become the Head of Art for at Hamilton Girls High School. My last position was Leader of Learning for the Arts at Sacred Heart Girl’s college Hamilton and teaching Painting.
My work is endlessly changing and developing as it grows in depth and understanding. The natural fascination I have for patterns and colour, nurtured in my weaving days, acts as the basis for my present works. I often use a gridded underpainting in many of my works. This allows me to contrast the natural patterns I see in the landscape and bush around me to the heavily structured weaving patterns. Influenced by many aspects of Maori art and craft, I relate to the spiritual significance artwork has in telling stories and relaying the emotional impact the land shares with its inhabitants. These characteristics can also be noted in works in other media, such as pottery and sculpture.

Geoff Moug
Living in Titahi Bay with a young family and working in Wellington, I try to paint local scenes as much as possible with what spare time I have. I work predominately in oil paints and enjoy the blending and layering ability of the paint throughout the painting process. I am self taught using Instagram/YouTube/books and knowledge from other members of Mana Arts to further my skills. I mainly paint landscapes and seascapes and also enjoy the challenge of Plein Air painting.

Seema Singh
I am from Nadi, Fiji Islands and have been residing in Wellington for the last 15 years. I use various art mediums like acrylic, watercolour pencils, crayons, oil pastels, acrylic paints, and metallic pens to create my ‘Happy Paintings’. My artwork is ever-changing. I am inspired by the theory of evolution and interconnectedness in nature. My paintings also try to show co-dependence and co-existence on our planet. Since these ideas are quite broad and complex, I usually leave it to people to decide what they want to see my paintings. My artwork is usually derived from an idea or a personal experience and I enjoy telling stories behind my paintings. I use colours to show emotions in my paintings – happiness, pensive sadness, delight and so on. Please visit https://www.facebook.com/expressionsbyseema to get a glimpse of my artwork. Jill Sutton
I am a largely self-taught artist and my preferred mediums are acrylics and pen and ink. In the last 18 months, I have also been working with collage and mixed media. The landscapes and buildings around Wellington and Porirua are my main sources of inspiration and are a subject that I return to time and time again.
My work is photorealistic and the result of a painstaking process driven by a search for perfection!
Originally from the UK, I moved to Wellington in 2001. I have previously exhibited at the NZ Art Show, Pātaka, Thistle Hall and a variety of local exhibitions where I have won a number of awards. My work can also be found at Mitchell Studios, Khandallah, Artspace Gallery, Petone and the Toi Store at Pātaka.
I am available for commissions. Contact Jill: [email protected]
